On August 8th, Eagle Ridge took part in Swim Across America Fairfield County’s 15th Open Water Swim off Cummings Point in Stamford, Connecticut.
Sadly, the skies were gray and rainy, but Alie Hamilton, David Laidlaw and other Team Eagle Ridge members braved the water anyway to complete swims of 0.5 or 1.5 miles.
Ben Connard, Jesse Moroyoqui, and other friends of the firm were there early volunteering on land and in kayaks to ensure the event went smoothly. Other team members did push-ups (John Knox), worked out (Mike Oliver) or did whatever it took to play their part and help raise funds.
This year, Team Eagle Ridge raised over $12,000 for the event. In the past 15 years, Swim Across America Fairfield County has raised $4.6+ million for its local beneficiary, Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT). Nationally since 1987, Swim Across America has granted almost $100 million to crucial cancer research and clinical trials at most major universities and cancer institutions.
